Hedley Thorne

BA/BSc (Hons) Business Studies and Music

Following graduation, Hedley has held a variety of IT crisis management and disaster recovery roles. In October 2017, he became IT Operations Controller at Heathrow Airport and at the start of 2020 is about to begin 12 months of training, working towards a new role in Aircraft Operations Management for Heathrow Airport.

Hedley says: ‘It will be great to get learning in a subject that I find truly fascinating! It marks a dramatic change of career for me, having worked in the IT industry for over 20 years since graduation. I have really enjoyed managing Heathrow’s critical IT operation, it is a fascinating environment but I am looking forward to working with aircraft teams, airlines, air traffic control, MET Office and airline handling agents to try and ensure the smooth running of Heathrow’s daily aircraft operation’.

Hedley was married in 2001 and has three growing sons, but finds a little time to enjoy cycling, hiking as well as enjoying Formula One. We wish Hedley all the very best with his training!
