Helen says: “I’ve been teaching IT for over a year now at Sheppey College which presented me with many challenges; yes, the stories I had heard from other teaching friends were true!  There were lots of stats and there is lots of paperwork to do.  However I kept my main focus on the students and I was given full responsibility for my classes as their main Tutor.  This meant I could find ways to implement everything I needed to, whilst still delivering high teaching standards.”

“This level of support from the management has made a big difference to how I can approach the job.  I think the best thing about my job is that I learn from the students as much as they learn from me.  I didn’t expect that but it has enriched my teaching experience and I’m very much looking forward to next year.”  That’s despite Helen going part-time four days a week to enable her to progress into higher level study on a part-time BA (Hons) Professional Education and Training here at Christ Church.  We wish her every success as she balances work and study.
