Ian Black
Certificate of Education, 1972
After completing his Cert Ed at Christ Church in 1972, Ian worked in a variety of schools across Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire, working his way up through various senior positions in primary and lower schools, as well as serving on the Bedfordshire Science and Technology team.
Ian eventually became headteacher of two schools, leading both to very successful OFSTED inspections, before embarking on consultancy, advisory and lecturing work, which he says: “took me all over the country”.
Still working at 70, Ian says: “I just love being with the children. Retirement should have happened in 2015, but the agency I was with at the time made me an offer I simply could not refuse. I have not worked through the Covid pandemic, because I am obviously in an at risk category, but intend to return after the impending vaccinations have been completed”.
Hopefully it won’t be too long before Ian is able to return to the classroom.

Hi Keith
I was indeed, and I carried on playing until I was 52, over at Ampthill, now a Championship side.
It was a pity you did not attend the recent Golden Jubilee celebrations at the college, now Canterbury Christ Church University, which took place in
May of this year. It would have been great to have a catch up.
Regards
Ian Black
Hi Ian,
I assume you are the Ian who played on the wing for C4 rugby.
