Back from the brink

Alumnus Paul Skegg, BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography 2015, became ill with Covid-19 early in April. Unfortunately, Paul developed Guillain-Barré Syndrome, a very rare complication of the disease that leads to total muscular paralysis. As he was taken into intensive care, there seemed little likelihood that he would survive.
Paul however, defied all the odds. Whilst still in intensive care, he nevertheless found enough strength to propose to his finance Katy Lavender, who is also a graduate in Diagnostic Radiography (2019) from Christ Church.
Paul pulled back from the brink and left hospital applauded by the staff of Darenth Valley Hospital who treated him. Our thoughts and best wishes are with Paul as he continues to recover. We also congratulate him and Katy on their engagement and wish them well as they plan their future together.
Dear Judy,
Thank you very much for your kind wishes. It is always lovely to hear of other people who found each other. Wishing your family all the best.
Paul and Katy
I wish Katy and Paul much happiness in their future life together. I met my husband at CCC as we knew it then in 1963. We were the first students at the College, now a university. Since then my granddaughter graduated from CCC and my daughter is embarking on a Ph.D, also at CCC.
God bless you both.
Judy
