The Founders Prize

The Class of 1962 – 65, our very first education students and our first alumni, marked the University’s 50th anniversary in 2012 by generously donating a student prize.

Awarded annually, the prize is awarded to a student from the Faculty of Education in recognition of an original published article.

“We wanted to give something back to the University and to recognise our contribution as founder students. We also wanted to thank the University for their generosity in awarding us Honorary Degrees during the Golden Jubilee year.” Lorna Daymond, co-ordinator of the prize.

This year’s recipient of the prize is PhD student Tansy Watts for her paper Froebelian Pedagogy as Everyday Activism in Support of a Sustainability Agenda.

“I have really enjoyed my journey with CCCU, through study and now work, and appreciate this prize which acts as a marker for me of a transition into published work. Truly grateful for all the growth, support and opportunities.” Tansy Watts, prize recipient.

She will receive a book of her choice, as well as a cash prize.
