Dellanie is student nurse Award winner

Our congratulations go to alumna Dellanie Nash, BSc (Hons) Interprofessional Learning (Adult Nursing) 2019, who was a Claims UK Student Nurse Recognition Award winner earlier this year.
Dellanie says: “I entered with the aim of inspiring student nurses to build their resilience and mental well-being to overcome life’s challenges without compromising their goals.”
Dellanie certainly knows about resilience in the face of adversity. Whilst studying at Christ Church, her daughter Maya was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma, an aggressive childhood cancer. 50% of children treated for the cancer relapse, after which their chance of survival reduces to just 10%. Working with the Solving Kid’s Cancer charity, Dellanie has established the Maya Nash Appeal to raise £199,000 to help her daughter access groundbreaking treatment in New York which could help prevent any a future relapse.
Dellanie is very appreciative of the support she received at Christ Church during Maya’s illness, which made it possible for her to continue her studies. Now she’s graduated, she is a willing volunteer at the university’s Open Days, encouraging and advising prospective students who are thinking of going into Nursing.
We congratulate Dellanie both on achieving her degree and for winning a Student Nurse Recognition Award in the face of such personal challenge.
Dellanie is the most amazing lady.
She has remained so focused on her studies, whilst facing her daughters heartbreaking illness and treatments.
She deserves this award and I am very proud to call her my friend.
Wow what a truly inspiring lady you are to everyone around you! Well done Dellanie!
