National Careers week

With National Careers Week around the corner (6-11 March), we wanted to share some great events coming up that are open to alumni – so you can develop your skills, be inspired to get involved, and learn about local opportunities.


7 March, Beach Creative Meet and Greet, 10am – 2pm, Touchdown Café, Canterbury
Beach Creative are a vibrant creative hub that supports and shows artists’ work in the heart of Herne Bay. Try new things, meet new people, share your ideas and talents, and have fun.

8 March, ‘Women in the world of work’ Workshop, 12-1pm, Careers Hub in Augustine House
Celebrate International Women’s Day at an interactive workshop; share experiences in the workplace, break down barriers, empower women and come together to discuss how we can support each other.

8 March, Inspiring Governance Volunteering Info Session, 1 – 1.45pm, Online
Volunteer as a school governor to make a difference in your community and develop your professional skills. Open to all CCCU students and alumni. To book please email lucy.woodward@canterbury.ac.uk

8 March, How to make money – Workshop 5: Making Your Business Official, 1.30pm – 3.00pm, The Lounge, St George’s
We have created this programme for current Christ Church students who want to become a freelancer or explore a business idea. This workshop will cover how to register your business.

9 March, Aldi Graduate Opportunities, 10am – 2pm, Touchdown Café
Come and speak to Aldi who are on campus to share their graduate opportunities and placement programmes. Learn more about retail manager roles and Aldi’s recruitment events.

9 March, LinkedIn Workshops, 12 – 1pm or 3 – 4pm (5 spaces per session), Careers Hub
Need help with how to use LinkedIn? Do you have an account but don’t know how to use it to network? Or maybe you don’t have an account yet. Bring your laptop and let’s work through it together.

And don’t forget you can still access the Careers and Enterprise Online Hub. Here you can access free online resources such as Career Pulse (a tool to assess how employable you are and provide tips on next steps), gain inspiration for your degree opportunities, utilise CV360 and Interview360 and so much more! Plus the Careers and Enterprise Team are also there to support you through one-to-one guidance appointments (for alumni who graduated win the last 3 years).
