Hilary Hardcastle
Certificate of Education
Hilary has been a key leader within the Class of 1962 – 65 (the first students ever to qualify from Christ Church) for more than 50 years.
This has included establishing the first ever Former Students Association, reconnecting the University with many “lost” alumni, and making large amounts of unique material from the period 1962 – 65 available to the University archives, thus preserving aspects of Christ Church’s history that might otherwise have been lost. Hilary continues to organise annual reunions for the Class of ’65.
Hilary was recognised for her unique contribution to her cohort and to Christ Church when she was awarded the Alumni Volunteer of the Year Award in 2017.

Hilary & I meet up regularly for lunch – & a good chat! She really dosn’t seem to have changed dramatically over the years – still looking very fit & smart! Whereas I still look fat & scruffy! But we always have plenty to talk about & quite a bit to laugh about!
It is very difficult to believe that we have known each other for over 50 years.
When you have known someone for so long every meeting seems like a continuation of the previous one. I think that is a real friendship – it is certainly one I value.
