Iain graduated in 2001 with a BSc (Hons) Business Studies / Sport & Exercise Science, before relocating to the United States in 2005, where he has been Head Coach of the field hockey team at an American university since 2007.

Iain says: “In the United States the role of a head coach is a full-time position that encompasses more than just the technical aspects of coaching but the need to run the entire program. That would include budget management, recruitment, fundraising, scheduling and many other aspects that I have been able to use my business degree for. It turns out that this role is perfect for somebody who received a degree in sport science and business”. 

Iain is based in Richmond, Virgina and is married with two young children and says of his life in the States: “We are living a wonderful life….. I do miss the UK at times and especially the friends that I made whilst at university. We managed to stay in contact when we come back to the UK as a family which is nice but obviously the last two years have made it more challenging”.
