Huge congratulations to Lishni Tilakaratne (MBA 2020) for her success as the winner of the Study UK Alumni Awards 2024, Business and Innovation Award in Sri Lanka.

A tech and design innovator, Lishni is the Associate Lead – UX Design at Rootcode Studio, with a mission to elevate Sri Lanka into a global design hub, addressing the local UX industry gap. She initiated strategic partnerships with major state and private universities, organising UX boot camps, workshops, and lectures. As a dedicated mentor, she successfully attracted and trained a skilled talent pool, contributing to the growth of Sri Lanka’s UX landscape.

Talking about her UK higher education journey Lishni said:

Starting my journey as a woman in tech seven years ago in the UX landscape, I’ve navigated the intricacies of design, leadership, and vision. This journey was influenced heavily by my education.”

“A significant chapter in this story began with my Masters from Canterbury Christ Church University. There, I got more than just a degree; I learned about leadership and steering teams towards a vision. The skills acquired, both from the University of Westminster and Canterbury Christ Church University, have been the wind beneath my wings, propelling me to not just achieve personal success but also make a tangible difference in Sri Lanka’s UX landscape.”

Professor Rama Thirunamachandran OBE DL Vice-Chancellor and Principal of CCCU said: “This is a wonderful success and we are all incredibly proud of what Lishni has achieved. She is a role model for all those in Sri Lanka, particularly working in technology and innovation, and our students are incredibly inspired by her achievements. And I hope Lishni will continue to be an innovator and leader in Sri Lanka. Many congratulations to her for this great achievement.”
